Cleaned ccQ-jet on sat. and it idiles at 1200. Used the claener in a can, sprayed the outside and a few squirtes in the front barrells. What is the problem?

 

Is it idling high while it's warm or while it's cold?

 

Actually, it does it all the time now. When warmed and cold. It acts like it stuck on part throttle cuz I can tap it like on cold mornings and the rpm will go to 650. But, as soon as I start driving it will shoot back up to 1200 and stay stuck there all the time now. If I'm at a red light or stop sign, its always 1200.

 

Is your choke open or closed when it idles high?

 

When cold its closed but as soon as I turn the car on it opens. Even when warm the front barrells are open and the choch linkage is all the way down.

 

my car's idle recently stayed high like yours. the electric choke wire came off. the choke looked open but linkage was stuck. the fix was to reconnect electric choke wire and press down 1x on large choke cam until the choke came unstuck

 

The wire is on, maybe the wire got wet but I will try that tonight and see what happens. thanks

 

Tried that and nothing still the same. Adjusted the choke counterclock wise and now it idles at 1700. Will put choke back becuse now it wastes more gas

 

Doesn't sound like your choke is working properly.

 

Maybe, do u know where I can find a choke besides a junkyard. I have been calling to dealerships and they are discontinued.

 

Choke is fine. Was looking at it after work with my brother and he found the solenoid on the throttle bracket was bad. he disconnected it and it idles fine. Is the solenoid adjustable? Will post pics of solenoid later.

 

The solenoid is the one on the bottom left hand corner. I have not had a problem since it was disconnected.

If I barely tap the throttle it will stay stuck in that position at a high idle. No matter what I do it stays like that.
