Converting to Carb - Holley 650 DP 6498?
I can get this carb for 60 bucks shipped to my house but it may need rebuild. Is this a decent carb to start off with? I have a post 87 350 block so I will be getting the 2704 performer intake and dizzy. I just want something that will give me a little power and easy to tune etc. I am just looking to get into the low 13's. Nothing too big.
I guess it came out of a 1967-71 Plymouth?
Cross referencing says that it's the same as the 4165 holley? http://www.summitracing.com/parts/AE...n/?prefilter=0

Not a bad deal but you will still probably have to drop another $50 on a rebuild kit for it.
The performer manifold's operating range is idle-5500rpm
the rpm air gap is 1500-6500rpm
the air gap has a gap under the runners for air to flow under and allow for cooler air or something like that. I would guess that they have a little longer runner.

Yea the performer would be fine for ya.
However the 4165 is a spreadbore and single inlet. :\

Square bore- The 4 barrel carb's front and rear throttle plates are the same size.
Spread bore- The carb's rear throttle plates are larger diameter (like a GM Quadrajet or Chrysler Thermoquad)

If so in what way?
Would I have a pretty decent combo with the performer and this Holley 650 DP?

No sorry its late here I just noticed the 4165 was spread bore.
The rpm air gap is for a square bore. Personally if it was me I would try to find a holley carb 4777 (650cfm double pumper) along with the 7501 edelbrock.

rule of thumb (though not set in stone) auto trans - vac. sec standard = D.P.
you also have to figure in driving habits. if you have a heavy foot, you better have gas $$$ if you get a D. P.!
