Rochester Quadrajet
Hey guys, i need some help tuning this carb, i have a 350 in my car, and this carb seems to flood it, i was thinking of adjusting it and keeping it if it can run well or switching to a holly 600 which would feed my motor plenty.

Re: Rochester Quadrajet
well you're probably due for a rebuilt anyways... but my advice is stay with your current quadrajet, and perhaps add bigger secondaries... I think you'd be able to get better response at WOT... now if you were to go with a performance aftermarket carb, then my bucket of pennies would say you would also have to upgrade your breathing... new performance intake, headers, better exhaust, ... otherwise you'll only be replacing your current setup with a shiny brand new part... again this is just my opinion ...

Well im pretty sure its flooding, although im afraid to run her long periods of time due to this carb leaking out of the fuel inlet and my valves being unadjusted to hell, and that she burns oil pretty damn bad.

lol... well my advice to you at this point in time is, save up as much money as you can for a rebuild ... you will only be putting a bandaid on a hemorrhage...the fuel inlet is probably either stripped or needs to be tightened, but most likely it was overtightened which is now stripped... napa auto parts sells an adapter to take care of this problem.. which valves are you talking about? burning oil... you are going to need some repairs.. like I said just save up some money...

Re: Rochester Quadrajet
I dont know exactly, but i know the valves need adjustment, when we took off valve covers they were all loose, and clankin on the covers but we got it a little better now. i mean its not too bad, i idealy want a holly 600, cheap, efficient and get the job done.

Re: Rochester Quadrajet
I have 3 holley 600s sitting in my garage which are junk. they were great out of the box but time for a rebuild and they went from bad to worse, using holley specific parts. my money is sticking with a q-jet. these carbs can run without any of the rods installed, definitely on the rich side, but you cant leave any parts out of a holley unless you have changed your metering block.
