Another Carb question.
I am currently upgrading my engine, i believe it to be a 305 w/holley 650 carb.. I bought it from a high school kid who got it from a "friend of a friend" so all the history is in question.. i have no idea what was what. Vin says carb from factory but who knows. Anyways it's a 86 z28 auto 700r4 stock.. (says vin). I installed new headers on it and there are o2 sensors on both manifolds. Neither were plugged in but i was wondering what they were used for? they are only 1 wire sensors. Any info would be great!

Re: Another Carb question.
I thought all GM's came factory with Rochester Q-jets not Holley. If it has a Holley then it might not be from the factory.

I only have 1 o2 sensor, it's in the exhaust pipe not the manifold. It's a 1 wire. It sends voltage back to your ECM. I'm not a mechanic but I think it deals with the electronic choke for emissions crap and air/fuel ratio.

Still waiting for pictures of these sensors and the manifolds.

The O2 sensor ( there should only be one ) was used in almost every GM car during the 80's. It was just one of many sensors used to send signals to the ECM/computer. The ECM controls the fuel metering of the carb ( not vacuum like older carbs ) and also controls timing advance and converter lockup.
