Re: 355 dont like the cold
Is the timming right? is there a vacuum leak? heat riser? do you pump it twice to set the choke? is the choke not set up on your carb right?

Re: 355 dont like the cold
bump up the base timing a few degrees...do you have vacuum advance hooked up? Without a choke, it may stumble and idle rough, but it shouldn't be too bad.

Re: 355 dont like the cold
90 Camaro is correct,
with no choke it probably will run rough when cold.
I have a Holley 650DP no choke and it stalls at least once if it's real cold out.
I just got to keep it running till she warms up and it runs great.
Shouldn't take long to warm it up and smooth out.

My 67 Camaro has a Holley 650 with no choke. With winters in Oklahoma when it was my daily driver I would have to start it and hold the throttle to 2500 for 2-3 minutes until it would idle on its own. Once that happened it would run fine. Never could I just start it cold and go.

ive run sever carbs with no chokes here when its cold out.pump it 2 times.fire it up.feather the gas a lil bit and hold it around 1500 rpms for a couple of minutes....then i let the car warm up a few more before i take off......no issues........

Re: 355 dont like the cold
I love chokes! had several carbed vehicles whil i was a kid, and as a result learned to rebuild carbs lol. There has got to be a way to set your choke prior to buying another. missing linkage or set screws are easliy replaced at your local pull-ur-part. or if your equiped with a electric choke, check your wiring and see if everything is right. Or if your like me and looking for an excuse to put money into your ride, a new carb is always a good investment!
