Buying a carburetor
I am looking into getting a new carburetor within the next month or two because i was told the one i have on the car now is pretty crappy. not to mention the floats are bad and the fuel mixture is off.
whats a good brand to get?
and where should i start looking? craigslist or possibly a junkyard?

Re: Buying a carburetor
Edelbrock makes street friendly carbs that are great if you want to tune it once and leave it. They dont make the most power, but they are simple and get decent fuel economy.
Holly carbs make more power but require more tuning. They are great if you understand how they work and like to tinker with them to get the best results.
I am currently running an edelbrock and am happy with it. It works well and doesnt cause me many headaches. I ran a holly double pumper for years and it performed very well but was more time consuming to keep adjusted.
There are also many other carb makers that fall on both ends of the scale, and can be a better choice depending on how you use the car and the altitude/heat of where you are.
If you can give us a little more info on your motor, upgrades, driving style, and use of the car we will be more able to point you in the right direction.

Re: Buying a carburetor
i believe it is still the stock 305 motor. it has been rebuilt within the last five years.
i am using the car as a summer daily driver and im looking for something that will make the car run better along with decent fuel economy. edelbrock carbs sound like the way to go. i found this ad which is in my local area for a used edelbrock http://rochester.craigslist.org/pts/2427184056.html
let me know what you guys think

Except the part about Holleys making more power.
An Edelbrock doesn't stay any better in tune with changing conditions than a Holley.
You don't have to tinker any more with a Holley than you do an Edelbrock.
