Choke light on

Choke light on

(85 Iroc 5.0 ,4 barrel Carb/Rochester)

How yall doin..i got a problem with my carb, when i turm the key to run, the choke light comes on , and i can hear a clicking sound in the carb, where as it dosent stop,, now when i go to start it, i have to tap the pedal a couple times untill the engine turns on, but when it does it starts to slowly die untill it shuts off.. Please. If u do know on how i can fix this, let me know. Thanks

What do your spark plugs look like and is your choke pull off working like it is suppose to?

My spark plugs look fine..But what do u mean by choke pull over like how would i know if thats good..

The choke light is supposed to be on when the engine is off. What happens to the light when the engine starts?

If the choke light stays on it can mean your alternater,of all things is going bad,not enough output to keep the choke coil hot or open or whatever it's supposed to be.

Well, the carb clicks, it's supposed to do that. Means the Mixture control solenoid is working. Should click for 10-30 seconds or so before stopping. ALl carbs need to hae the pedal pumped a couple times before starting, unless youjust turned it off and turned it back on.

As for the slowly dying, can't say. Have you used the paperclip method to check if there are any codes?
