Trouble Removing Acclerator Pump
I've pulled my e4me carb off for my first rebuild and I'm already running into problems. I cannot for the life of me get this thing separated. I'm trying to remove the airhorn now but I don't understand how the accelerator pump arm is removed. Instructions say to knock out the pin but mine doesn't have a pin. It has a hollow bore with what looks like a spring inside it that I can't punch out. I can put a pick straight through it, but there's nothing to "punch out" unless I'm missing it. If anyone could help I'd really appreciate it.

Looks kinda like a rivot . There is supposed to be a roll pin going through that hole.

Re: Trouble Removing Acclerator Pump
There's nothing going through the hole - I can stick a pick straight through it. No idea how to get this thing off. I've tried picking it out but that little rod on the right gets in the way.
EDIT: This just occured to me, but in rebuilding this carb, do I even need to remove that thing? I'm just gonna dip it and refresh the gaskets and whatever else is in the kit. The lever doesn't seem like it needs to be removed for this, does it?

The lever does not have to come out.
That pin looks a little weird, but to remove the lever, you drive the pin IN towards the carb. But not all the way, just enough to get the lever free.

I've tried everything but there isn't really anything TO push in towards the carb. Just this spring-looking retaining clip that holds the arm on there. But if I can dip it like this with no ill affects, that I suppose I'll just leave it and work around it!

It looks like the roll pin, for the pump arm, was peened over. You don't HAVE to remove it.
If you can't get the top plate off, did you remove the two screws in the choke area? The would be under the choke blade, two flat head screws. I had a hard time until I realized they were part of what holds the top to the body.

Re: Trouble Removing Acclerator Pump
I've taken quadrajets apart without removing the roll pin and the pump arm, but re-assembly is much more difficult if it still in there. You'll have to be exceptionally careful NOT to bend any of the air tubes when you put it back together, and it's difficult to align them into the proper holes with the pump arm and rod connected together.
If it were me, I'd drill the head of that rivet out, punch out the remains, and replace it all with a roll pin.
