Is my carb stock?
Finally got around to pulling off the carburetor on my engine only to realize that the rebuild kit I ordered does not work for the carburetor I pulled off. It's a 4bbl quadrajet 17083204 which as far as I can tell did not come on a trans am in the 1986 model year. Does anyone know what this came from? There is also an additional number under it 2252 FRB.

Re: Is my carb stock?
3204 sounds like LG4 from 83. Not exactly stock but as close as it can possibly be.
A kit for the one will "work" on the other.
How does the kit you have "not work"?

My specific carb isn't listed under the applications for the rebuild kit I ordered. Do you think this affects my engine performance in any way?

Re: Is my carb stock?
Not really. Those carbs are all so similar; the gaskets (rebuild kit) are all the same, their differences are in minute drillings of passages, choices of jets & rods, and other such things in which "rebuild" is not affected. Just like the same head gaskets and oil pan gasket "work" in a 165 HP 76 Impala 350 and a 70½ "LT-1" in a Z/28". Sometimes not even that: might on many cases just be a matter of paperwork, as in, government agency certification that has to be renewed however often, even if the underlying object is unchanged.

If you return that kit, get a good one from Cliff. - Give 'em a call with your carb number, https://cliffshighperformance.com/

I can say for sure that the 1708 3204 carb did come on my 84 LG4 305 TransAm.

Zackly.
It's the same carb. For several years running. Even if whoever compiled whatever "list" left this one off.
