cuz of the cold? or just my P.O.S?
-In the morning, ever since it got cold that is... my car is hard to start. I will pump the gas a couple times, then turn the key. The car will start right up (without idling high) then simply stall. This process usually repeats quite a few times. it will also stall out when i try to hit the gas. Im just got my car, let alone my license. I dont even know if its a carburetor problem. Can anyone PLEASE help cuz im late to school everyday and my coach doesnt like that.
-ALSO.. when i have the car running ok for awhile, i find that the car will stall when i stop at a stop sign, or red light... and try to go. I also see the battery volt guage thing stoop very low at times... is that why the car stutters (if not, stalls) when gas is applied??
-i know you guys know something so dont hold back.. thanks

I think your best bet would be to go to some sort of car part dealer (eg. Autozone) and usually they can do a basic engine test on your car to pinpoint some problems. Such as the battery, or the alternator. I think that you can find out exactly whats wrong. I know that my car stalls at a Stopsign, or a red light every now and then, but it doesn't happen often, so I haven't checked it out yet.

I would assume from the fact that you posted this on the Carb board, you have a carb.
It sounds like your choke is not closing or not closing all the way. Could be a gummed up linkage or a bad choke thermostat. Either way, it doesn't sound like a big problem.
From your user name and subject line, it doesn't sound like you appreciate what you have. While I've got the soapbox, let me remind you that not everyone gets a car the same time they get their license. Many of us who had a car within the 1st year of having their license had to put a lot of sweat into getting it. So, show some willingness to work with what you've got, and some appreciation for it, and we'll be a lot more willing to help you work through the issues that you have that are keeping your ride from doing what it should.

Dude, what are you talkin about? I put too much sweat into my car. I was told by my parents i was going to be given a nice "low-miles" cougar, that which both my brothers had. Well things went for the worse and he screwed it all up... and to fix it would cost more than it was worth. So this left me with 2 years to make any kinda money for my own car. I worked both summers and earned about $5500. I was riding my bike down the street not paying attention, and i literally ran into my camaro (still have the little dent). with much debate, and begging my dad let me purchase the car... for $1500!!! and for the money it is THEEEE best car. Black, tan clothe interior, coolest Berlinetta Swiveling radio, 94k original, 2.8 ltr, brand new BFG radials, American Racing Rims. Now heres the catch, it had a digital electronic dashboard.. the speedometer and tach do not illuminate at all. so im driving with caution. With the money left over after buying and insuring my car (which wasnt much with NJ insurance rates) i managed to do some minor details... such as some BUMPIN' subs, a SLAMMIN' amp.. and some CRANKIN' speakers (teenager thing, not a waste of $$). I kept the stock "nightrider" radio for security reasons. So i guess the whole point to this is, that im lucky i got what i got, and that it runs, but ill let you know when theres not one drop of sweat put into anything of mine, especially my car. So how about some help on my carb please?

Okay, we'll try again. Check to see if the choke is closing while the engine is cold.
What year is your car? Some 2.8's had an electrically powered grid under the carb to help atomize the fuel when the engine is cold. These will burn out.

oops, i guess i could have given this info before, my bad. Its a 1984 camaro berlinetta, 2.8ltr, carburated. I mentioned that it has an electronic dash, well the choke "idiot light" symbol comes on when i first start it in the morning (idling high), then goes out after i idle down, so i assumed it wasnt the choke. if this is enough info, anyone please help!

The choke light should only be on when they key is in the "run" position with the engine not running. If it's on with the engine running, you either have a problem in the choke circuit, or a bad alternator.
Considering you're complaining about cold starts I'd say it's probably the choke circuit.

Oh yes, the beauty of carboration.
If it is that old, I wouldn't expect it to start and run perfectly when it is very cold. Did you check the output of your alt?
