Anyone ever seen a Yellow vert????????

What I have found out so far is that they made 66,605 sport coupes in '88 and 1,859 sport coupe convertibles. 922 cars were produced in yellow (yellow-gold). Yellow gold was not available on Irocs and yellow gold was discontinued after '88 so the only year you could purchase a yellow convertible was in '88. I know that Pontiac produced one yellow Firebird convertible in '88 and it is in the Pontiac museum. Doing the math, I come up with 1.3% of the sport coupes produced in yellow. 1.3% of 1,859 (total sport coupe convertibles produced) = 24 sport coupe convertibles produced in '88 in yellow and the only ones that were ever produced in that color, if the percentage for the total production holds true for the sport coupe convertibles. On top of this, about 3 months after I bought the car (new). A guy stopped me in a parking lot to talk to me about the car. The first thing he said was "you painted that car didn't you" and went on to tell me he was one of the three dedicated truck drivers for the camaro convertible factory in california and he had never seen one roll out of the factory in that color. I would really like to find the actual production numbers for '88 sport coupe convertibles for paint colors and transmissions. So, if anyone can help, I would surely appreciate it. If the car turns out not to have much collector value it's going to get 400+ h.p. and a bunch of other mods and I'm dying to get started on it. By the way it's also a 5 speed. Thanx.

Wow I bet it looks great. According to the gm data I have found code 51 yellow gold was not available on IROCs in '88. Did you have it painted?

My car was factroy paint.. that firebird looks great! What year is it?.......a few years ago a magazine ...Road & Track I think ran an article on the Yellow '88 'Bird Pontiac made to commerate the return of the 'vert. They produced 1 car in Yellow because the color was going to be discontinued. You can see the car and learn all about it at the Pontiac Museum. According to Pontiac it was the only 3rd gen Firebird vert ever made in that color. Or did the magazine get it wrong?

If it's an IROC vert it has been repainted. Yellow was not available on IROCs in '88 and was discontinued in '89. But I bet it looks awesome with the IROC hood.

Yellow (Pontiac called it Jamaican Yellow) was only offered in 1992. I found this car on one of those "We Finance Anyone" lots in Macon, GA at "Uncle Bucks Used Cars" of all places.

The car is being restored (New Engine, Interior and suspension thus far) in orgianal condition. New paint will go on next spring in time for the Trans Am Nationals in Dayton, OH.

Build numbers come from GM, Pontiac customer service.

I saw a sweet yellow RS vert with Heritage Stripes when I was stationed on Guam back in '98.
I believe the guy sold it while he was on the island.
He had a sticker on the windshield that said, "Yes, it's fast. No you can't drive it!!"

Mark, I have seen this car 2 or 3 times in the St. Cloud area. Every time I saw it it was going in the opposite direction that I was going. It was definately equipped like an IROC-Z though.

Was yellow available on the IROC-Z in 1987?

Well offically anyway Yellow was a 92 only color...but strange things happen and an early 91 might have gotten painted that color.

As for me I have been at the TA Nats for the past 4 years and this year will make 5 in a row

In 2002 my other TA won 1st place at the Tipp City Cruise in for 4th Gens and last year won 1st Place in the MM Heavy Custom Class (93-02, 16+ Mods)

This year I get to be in the winners circle so I wont have to kill myself getting the car ready after driving it from Atlanta.

The one in the picture is a 1992 TA. As for the yellow 88 it very well could have been 1 of 1 at the time.

There so many strange things about converts, the years they were made, who made them and how many. There are many one offs that it would be hard for one person to get there arms around.

I just saw tonight a 88 TA convert with a factory 350. Needs tons of work for the strong at heart. Its Red, with a Tan top and interior. It also has a factory spoiler much like the 91/92 Z 28 cars

I enter my car but I don't have it judged ..(I'm not in to spending a large chunk of change for a 15$ award) I just like to have a good time and relax.. We stay in the Holiday Inn Express in Tipp City..This will be my 4th or 5th also..Hope to C U there...

chuck88iroc, according to the Camaro White book ..Yellow was not available on IROCs in '88...not sure about '87....just dug out the book...it says 3052 cars came in yellow in '87 including Z28s and IROCs, so I did a little math...3052 Camaros in yellow...total '87 Camaro production 137760 = 2.2% .....1007 convertibles produced x 2.2% =22 probable yellow verts produced in '87.....yellow was discontinued after '88.....wow I would love to see an '87 IROC or Z28 vert in yellow......
