vert rear springs?
Has anyone ran the moog 5662/5665 combo on their verts? If so how was the stance? I'm about to install these and am worried that the rear will sit to high seeing as how the rear of these cars are lighter than your regular 3rd gen. How about any other commen springs for 3rd gens, has anyone noticed the rear being too high/stiff? Did it cause the rear to wash out too easily?

Lighter? Thats a new one.
Anyway, go ahead and throw them in and see how they look. If you dont like the height, just cut some of the top of the spring off. I think the more critical thing is if they are the right rate, and give the ride and stiffness you are looking for.

Okay, this is the second response from someone saying that the rear end of a vert is NOT lighter than a hatch. Is my thinking wrong in that I believe there to be less weight riding on the rear tires on a vert as opposed to a hatch? I know the vert weighs more overall but I would think without the heavy a$$ hatch hanging out BEHIND the rear wheels there may actually be less weight on the rear tires and quite a bit more on the front.

GMGod,
think about where the extra weight in the vert is - It is in the area between the front and rear wheels. That extra weight is distributed between the wheels so if the vert actually weighs more than a coupe it would follow that ALL that weight is distributed between the front and rear wheels. The only way that that equation could produce a lightening on the rear end would be if there were extra weight added forward of the front wheels...
I may be wrong, won't be the first time and it won't be the last.
Perhaps somebody with a friend with a coupe knows where they can go and get front and rear weighed independantly and compare the two. That would settle it for sure...

I see your point and am going to make an effort to weigh both my cars.... but think about how heavy the rear hatch lid is on a coupe, have you picked one up that is off the car? Its pretty heavy, I'm gonna guesstimate a little over 100lbs. Most of that weight is behind the rear wheels as opposed to between like the stamped reinforcement is on a vert (the top and deck lid don't weigh anything). This is why I think there may be less weight on the rear wheels of a vert.

Interesting...
gmgod,
It will be very interesting to see an actual weight comparision of the two vehicles. You are right about the hatch being very heavy. That is one very large piece of glass.
Please let us know what you find out!

This would be a pretty easy question to answer if anyone has access to a set of racing scales to measure the weight distribution of a vert versus a regular third gen

Well, I won't be weighing both cars. Since the last post I pulled the motor/trans out of the IROC and the car is now for sale. I did however install the 5665/5662 moog springs in the vert, it sits fine and drives great.
