This car is definately NOT a Z28 as ther were none produced in 1988. The Iroc Z was the top of the line camaro from 88-90 and this car is definately not one. The lack of louvers, the front grille and the tailights are the giveaways. Also the rims on that car are the 85-87 style Iroc Z rims. The car looks like it has seen better days. Sad really

That's also a early thirdgen hood , not correct for that year of car.The front grill is a RS grill. I found it amusing that he thinks the convertible top motor is not working. It might have worked if it ever came with one. The tops on those cars are manual.

The picture of the VIN is almost impossible to read but it does look like there is a J in the 10th position which would indicate a 1988 car. The hood and front nose definately look wrong. I think just the front left wheel has the wrong center cap for 1988. It should be silver like the other 3 wheels. The interior door panels I am not sure what they are from. They are not like mine but then again I have the standard interior. I would assume all of the emblems are missing from being removed for the paint job. The location a shapes of where they should go looks correct to me for an IROC.

In any case I think it is safe to say that the car looks like it would need a whole bunch of work and $$$ to put into decent shape.

What I find strange is while there was factory yellow, something WAS painted, with the badging missing on the bumpers. The decklid spoiler is not in line...much like mine...maybe a hit to the rear? Rust could be hidden under a quicky-repaint as always

The rust isn't as bad as mine. My thinking is small spots are much easier to tackle, if limited. My Cad has too different rust/dent conditions per door, so may only replace one and fix the other.
For the asking price $2000..Not that bad, really. In good shape I paid near $9000 for my Firebird with 44 thou miles on it. It may still go faster then that one, having gone 130MPH before on the stock engine. right now, still awaiting a new radiator I paid for on line. Fingers crossed...

That car is quite the enigma. Looks like a conglomeration of junkyard parts.

From the VIN decoder on this site:
Here are the results for your query on: 1G1FP31E7JL167465
Made in: United States
Manufacturer: General Motors
Make: Chevrolet
Carline Code: F-Body
Carline Series: Camaro (all models)
Body Type: 2 door convertible
Restraint System: Manual belts
Engine Code: 305 ci V8 L03 (1988-1992)
7 is the CHECK DIGIT
Model Year: 1988
Assembly Plant: Van Nuys
Production Sequence: 167465

305 L03, yet note the 115 mph speedo and 6k redline tach. The taillights are mismatched, not IROC, look like early models, and 1 a Berlinetta tail light. RS or SC grille, IROC hood missing the louvers, early IROC wheels...... it's FrankenMaro!
