How much would my car be worth?

I have an 89' IROC convertible. rebuilt automatic w/shiftkit. has 140,000 miles on it but still running strong with 120lbs of compression in all 8 cylinders. new top, 17" polished aluminum rims, custom stereo, hotckis strut tower brace, 140amp chrome alternator, new top, paint could use some work though.

Interesting... in a good way of course
Typically the F cars that are unique would be more then $5K but most lower then $10 grand. The engine bay and mods look pretty nice to me, so I'd put it closer to 10. Who decides to buy and why, I can't say much but my personal feeling is I like custom cars and fast cars often work the best for the type of mods in the automotive world...Those that increas looks and speed

I wouldn't insure it for less than 7K.

Paint it!

It's an 89 iroc that needs a paint job that is stock and high miles. The top will make it hold it's value better, but not much. Looking under the hood all you seems is yellow wire covering (no value) painted intake parts (no value) and a $120 STB. Nothing unique really, I'd say a little over $4k or check ebay and see what high mileage irocs sell for. here's an example of a VERY desireable 1990 Iroc Vert that's in excellent shape with less miles.

That sold for $5100 in California.

Let me add something then, That engine bay is better dressed then mine, which usually means, well cared for and the value is there for that. I'm in the Midwest, just south of Canada so it's pretty hard to find old cars in mint shape, in the South it's easier....but check local prices in the sand belt and you'll see what I mean. What actual final sell price may be, again, I can't presume to know but I look at cars for sale all the time to see what ranges for models I like are. You know a deal when you spot one based usually on that

Paint it. Keep it tight.

Try to find a replacement for it within 300 miles. In CA, sadly, they are fairly common (thankfully for me). Elsewhere, not so much.

Also... Mine is just worth more than 7K to me. That accounts for the receipts anyway...

Value is RELATIVE

I agree with What Cadillac said.

My car is worth a lot more to me than I believe that I could sell it for.

If someday someone should come along who has enough dollars and values the experience of ownership of my car more than I do - He'll be driving it!

Everything I've got is for sale but some things are just too danged expensive.

For example:
I have a 10 year old Chocolate Lab that is also for sale. The first person who will pay me two million dollars for him will own themselves an old dog!

That's my $.02

Price Increase!

Yeah,

The ole hound dog is still around. Actually, he's been quite well behaved lately so the price has gone up. Now the asking price would be 4.5 million Dollars! He is about Five months past his tenth birthday.

Here is one of his Baby Pics.

Oh yeah, he likes to ride in the Vert with the top down!

I'm sure the price drops dramatically when he poops on your bed sheets right before you go to bed

Nah!

This dog (We're WAY off topic) willnot even think of getting on the furniture.

The best part is that if a cat even thinks about coming into the yard and ultimatly getting on my car I just let the ole dog hang around outside off his run. It doesn't take kitty long to realize that it would be much healthier if he/she were to find another car to get on...
