Any Recommended Vendors for a new Top for my 91 RS Vert?

Also, any caveats as to self installs?

I just bought this 91 and the top got ripped due to a break in.

 

i'm in the same boat but when i bout my 91 2 weeks ago the top was already ripped. I saw a few cloth ones on ebay for like 300 dollars. So I may go that route once I gather together a few dollars. Also the best part about those i saw was that they're here in southern CA so no shipping for me

 

I had a local shop install mine. It ended up being around $900, but was worth it to me. I've never installed one myself. Others have had good luck doing it themselves.

 

I am also in the same boat... I think I am going to get the cloth top with glass window from topsonline.com, I have heard good things about them. I have a 91 RS Vert, the window is yellow and cracked... Its $425 for the top and $175 for installation down at a local shop here in SoCal.

I called them last week and asked if I brought in a top how much they would charge. They quoted me at $175

mine just arrived in the mail yesterday tan cloth w/ plastic rear window $340..

 

go with a glass window you will thank me later, easier to clean and you can tint the window , i replaced my top 2 years ago (i installed it myself) with a plastic window and now i regret it , yeah now i leave my doors unlock

 

We had ours installed a year ago & the guy did a great job, it cost us 1200 to get it done but that was because he had to order some parts that were melted.

Time to get the top replaced... I was looking into going through TopsOnLine but I noticed that their tops are separated by years, 90-93 and 87-89 with 87-89 having different frame sizes. This reminded me what the installer had told me the last time I had it done. He said the top from the factory didn't fit so they had to sew a custom one. At the time it didn't occur to me to ask which factory top they had ordered I was just glad my top didn't have a knife slice in it. They charged me the same as if they installed the factory one.

But now that I am ordering one I want to make sure I have the correct one. Has anyone had any problems with ordering for a 1990 RS? I bought the car at the end of 1989 but it was listed as the 1990 model year.

By the way NEVER lock a door on a convertible. Its easier to replace the radio then have to replace BOTH the radio and top.
