Frozen IROC
Here is a pic of my frozen daily driver 88 IROC Convertible I took this pic a couple of days ago and it was 10 degrees here in Colorado Springs. Still had to take it to work a couple hours later.
I put in a new windshield and new convertible top with real glass a couple of months ago. I plan on painting the IROC later this year then I have got to find space to store/park her inside. Right now my GUYrage holds three other classic cars so finding space will be tough.

Re: Frozen IROC
My 89 vert has never seen snow. I'm sure its a handful in the snow. How do you like the glass window in your new top? does it compromise your view? I'd like to get glass when my top needs replacing. Tough to keep the plastic one clean and clear.

Re: Frozen IROC
Having lived in cold weather states and using breathe-able covers, typically what can happen is that the day can get warm enough to melt the frost/snow/sleet/ on the car and then re-freeze when the temp drops back down, which may secure the cover to the car. If you try to remove the cover at that time you risk damage to your finish and/or the cover. If it's just going to sit, then I'd suggest a cover also, but he stated it was his daily driver.

Re: Frozen IROC
Not going to use a cover and have it perhaps freeze on the car let alone fight with a car cover that might have snow accumulated on top...
Richboll-I really do like the glass window, there was very short adjustment period with the slightly smaller window as far as view goes but now I am accustomed to it and having a clear window to look out of as well as being able to use a regular scraper to clear off snow and ice makes the glass a dramatic improvement during winter.

Re: Frozen IROC
They do throw down gravel that has an ice melting solution but I do not drive the Iroc when there is much snow or ice, but we do have tons of sunny days here in Colorado Springs so it is only a few days during the winter that the Camaro stays in the driveway. I have other vehicles I can drive when it's bad.
No the Iroc does not have aftermarket undercoating at all. When I paint it-hopefully later this year I will be resealing all undercarriage seams with 3M seam sealer then spraying undercoating over that.

Oh very nice; I was becoming a little worried that your lovely IROC 'vert would rust away into nothing soon with the ice melting chemicals. That's why my Trans Am 'vert stays parked for the winter here in CT.

Re: Frozen IROC
I am fortunate that my car is an original Arizona car (bought it from one of my brothers and I am the third owner). There is no rust at all on the car just old faded original paint and a small dent in the drivers door. Rebuilt the engine and trans nearly seven years ago and no leaks or any major problems during that time. It is very dependable and my daughter will be given the Iroc when she gets married. Each of my three kids will be getting one of my classics as they all get married. My oldest son got the 65 Mustang and my second oldest son received the 66 Mustang GT. They all grew up around cars and learning how to care for them so they appreciate the classics.
