How do you keep your top when parked?

I want to know how you'll keep your vert top when you park the car. I have about 4 small holes poked through the top from it being tucked away under the tanau and this seems common place for our verts. I am not talking winter storage, just how do you leave your top when you come back from a cruise knowing you will use the car again soon? Leave it down under the cover? Fully put it in the up position? Is/was there any factory/ASC recommendation for this? When in the up position the canvas top stretches, will this cause it to get loose? Will leaving it down and tucked away cause permanent wrinkles in the canvas or rear window?

Mostly up. If you have the vinyl window, in cold weather, warm up the interior (and window) with the vehicle heater, before folding the top. I had a customer (Auto Repair Business) who's window cracked in half, when she folded the top, on a cold, winter day.

First, it's "tonneau." Sorry for the correction, but I was an English major back in the day.

Second.....up....i drive somewhere top down, when I get there, top up. Depending on where I am, I may or may not latch it.

I have 2 vert TAS. 91 and 94.

For the first two years that I owned the vehicle I put the top up when I put the car away for winter. Since then I have only ever put the top up one time (coming home from a road trip at night and got chilly out.). That last time the top was up was in 2021. I only drive the car on sunny days so waste of time to put top up and down.

Thanks for the correction, some words I always have problems with
I have been putting the top up but leaving the "tonneau" up and not latching the front while just hanging in the back. It keeps a little tension on the top and the open cover reminds me it's not latched.

Do you have issues with the small holes that appear from what I guess is screws that stick up? I have like 4 or 5 all on the drivers side.

Re: How do you keep your top when parked?

I learned my lesson on a '64 Lemans my dad bought back then. I took the car out on a cold night, put the top down and cracked the rear window in half! Needless to say I had a lot of "splanin" to do when I got home! I leave the top latched to the windshield but don't latch the tonneau down. This helps not only to keep the roof in shape but doesn't make the weatherstrip at the bottom of the top (below the window) glue itself to the tonneau paint. I am on my 3rd top in 32 years.

Re: How do you keep your top when parked?

I always put my top up and windows up when parked in my garage. I figure it helps keep most dust out of the interior, and it does not keep the top folded. My 89 has holes in it that came with the car when I bought it in 2006.
