Air Dam question

I recently noticed that my car doesnt have an air damn, it explains alot about heating issues, anyway i bought a new one, and when i put it on my car it is about an inch or so off the ground, it would be so low that it would scrape against the speedbumps etc., Will this height be ok or do i have to mod. the airdam (Cutting, new one)

Thanks
Joey

I've got an Iroc air dam on my Firebird (you can see it hanging down in my sig pic). Yeah, It scrapes. You can either live with it or trim it down. So far I've lived with it since my car runs warm anyway. As soon as I get my dual fan setup, I'm going to trim it for more clearance.

I think ill try it out and if i can live with it, then be it, but if i cant like you said i can trim it, i dont really have to many heat issues, and already have the dual fans you spoke of.

They do hang kinda low. Mine scraps on steep driveways and that sorta thing. Watch the parking blocks cause they can rip it clean off.

I also have an iroc air damn on my formula. I drag it all over the place the worst is coming out of a gas station that has a concrete dip for drainage. I always drag it there and it's only acouple inches different. If you're careful though you can most of the time go over stuff at an angle and it doesn't cause as much as a problem.

You can remove the air dam and using moderate heat all across the front, bend the air dam to face forward slightly and make the incoming air funnel up better. This will also raise the dam slightly and should you drag it on something, it will be pushed up instead of back.
