Cooling Discuss all of the aspects of cooling that you can think of! Radiators, transmissions, electric fans, etc.

Anyone have any cooling problems with an underdrive crank pulley?

Just as the title says, how did your car react as far as coolant temps go after you installed an underdive pulley?

No cooling probs here, just voltage.

Do you also have an underdrive alternator pulley?

Nope. I have an overdrive alt pulley to spin the alt even faster.

damn, and you still have charging issues? What does the volts drop to and what is your idle speed?

Welp with the stock size 94 amp alt, sitting at lights after the engine has warmed up with A/C on max it was like 11.8-12v (no stereo). 650rpm. I switched back to the stock crank and get 12.8-13v as long as I dont turn on my stereo

A 25% under crank with a smaller alt pulley, I still think the alt is underdriven by 3%. You may not notice it. Depends how much electronic stuff your running.

I would recommend the smaller alt pulley with the stock crank to anyone running a big stereo setup.

ah, thanks for the info. You think my stock 105 amp would handle it?

Hard to tell. If you can run all your accessories at idle while the engine is hot without dropping below 12.7 you *may* be ok, but your right at the edge. The higher the voltage you can hold, the better the chance you'll have. With any underdrive crank I'd recommend a smaller alt pulley like the one offered in March's Power & amp set.

I installed a 3 piece march clear powdercoated set and I didn't have have a problem with cooling... course I'm running a 31x19 radiator with 2 permacool fans on the back and a 10 inch pusher on the front with the stock water pump.
