My friend has one on his truck. Get a brass ball-valve and add a barb-ended brass fitting to each side so you can put it inline on your heater hose. You install this valve on the hose coming from your intake and going to the core, not the return line back to the radiator, though either will stop the coolant flow. I know it does work.

you don't really need a diagram. You just cut the hose a few inches from the firewall and put the valve inline on that hose. The valves and fittings are sold at a local hardware store here.

Here is a picture from my friend's truck. The valve is inline on the return hose from the core. His returns back to the waterpump, but I think all TPI cars have the return straight back to the radiator just below the fill cap.

thanks for the pic! i thought you had to have the coolant return back to the block? i quess the heater supply loop is it's own circuit? all we have to do is cut the one side off?and it doesn't cut off the flow to the rest of the engine? thanks for the info...guess i'll have a much cooler summer than last year!!

The heater is it's own circuit. Hot coolant coming from the heads goes up into the intake manifold and is then routed via heater hose to the core behind the firewall. The return line from the core will either go to the input side of the waterpump, or directly back to the radiator on the passenger side like TPI cars do.

You could simply loop the hoses to bypass the core but the valve is more convenient to turn on and off.
