is it worth the risk for ebay electric fans?
or electric fans in general. With a mechanical fan, I am sure that it is working, but if a motor goes out on my dual setup, then, I would not know untill it overheats.
I am wondering about the 20 dollar electric fans on ebay. Are they worth it. I have a flex, and another with a clutch, so that would be the cheapest alternative.
I really want electric fans, because it has bragging rights.
This is available for $27 buy it now
Description
RADIATOR UNIVERSAL ELECTRIC MOTOR COOLING FAN FOR COOLING AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM . REVERSABLE. .AVAILABLE ALSO IN SIZES 9,10,12 OR 14 INCHES, COMES WITH MOUNTING HARDWARE, BRAND NEW. VALUED AT OVER $90.00. 12V, 12.2AMP.SPECIAL SPRING APRIL SALE
would a couple of these 14" fans be reliable?
I don't want to spend the cash on brand name kits, but is this a "get what you pay for" situation?
I also have a stock aluminum rad. I have a copper, or brass one, out of another thirdgen, so would that be better?
I don't have cooling problems, but I want it to work better, I guess. Also the few measly hp from getting rid of my mechanical fan is a big incentive.
Thanks for your help.

so if I just watch my volts, I can get an idea if my fans are starting to go out. I figure I am going to get 2 14 inch fans and wire them up with a toggle. I am going unshrouded, so would it be best to go with a pull or a push setup. It can be reversed, but I remember that if they are behind the radiator, that one is better than the other.
Thanks

if they are on the engine side of the radiator the MUST be in pull config... otherwise teh fan would be fighting the oncoming air from the road.
i know that my car runs at just over 13.5 with my fan toggled to on and like 14 or so with it off... i know exaclty when my fan is on or off

Alright, I am relieved. As long as I watch my gauges, I should be okay then.

No. You would have to mickey mouse this setup to get it to work. You are better off getting a factory single or dual electric fan setup, with the factory mounting brackets etc. The install will look much cleaner, and if you get it from the junkyard, you could probably score the factory wiring also.
