Fan not turning on, even with A/C

Ahh...my cars been overheating when stopped or at slow speeds. My dad and I were looking at it and come to find out the fan isnt turning on at all, even when the ac is on. I checked the fan and it works when wired to a power source so I know its not the fan. Whats the problem here guys??

My car did the same thing, ended up being the fan switch.

Re: Fan not turning on, even with A/C

Hey guys sorry to bring back an old thread, but i figured why start a new one. Well I have the same exact problem as Iron_Maiden did. I actually even tried the same things he did, mine has been doing it for a while now. When i first got the car i could turn the ac controls to defog and it would turn my fan on, but then the next summer that stopped working. But then the bi level control would turn the fan on, but now that stoped and none of the other controls are working to turn it on. So basically im now in the same boat as Iron_Maiden. So i read the responces people wrote for him and now my questions are, which fuse do i check?, where is the relay located that they speak of?, and where is the fan switch?

I greatly appreciate the help, thanks guys

Re: Fan not turning on, even with A/C

Fan switch in passenger side head below #5 and #7 plugs. Grounding the switch lead with ignition in 'run' should engage the fan. If this doesn't work you can trace this lead to the relay (make sure you've got the right one with a continuity check). Make sure you've got power in and power out when the control wire (wire to switch) is grounded, ignition in 'run', of course.
