cooling problem...

my car's fan doesn't come on 'till its almost hits the red part of the temp. gauge. I have to turn the AC on just to keep it cool in traffic, i do have a 180* t-stat (drilled), but even before i drilled it i recall the fan behaving the same way. Is there anyway i can reset the fan temp sensor??
any suggestions will be great help, thanx!!!!

I'd first verify the accuracy of the temp guage you're using. The stock guages are not always a good indicator of the true temp. You can, however, get a fan switch with a lower than stock setting.

yeah i never trust OEM guages i keep the dash stock exept for the Speco Tach but i have 3 guages screwed to my firewall in my engine bay that is water temp, oil preshure and oil temp.
Just to add my OEM temp guage hits 260'F when the After market one reads 235'F, The OEM guages are just a guide they are a cheap, mass produced item. A good example is the Third Gen OEM Y pipe, It workes but how well is a different story.

I think the fuel gauges are GM's worse. Both the Silverado and Camaro read toward the full side on take off and the empty side when braking.

If the car is overheating you use the heater not the A/C. The A/C just makes things worse.

Yes, do not trust the OEM gauge. Junk.

the heater does help, but when you're stuck in traffic on 85* weather, the last thing you want is more heatt. I have tried the heater and it doesn't do as wwell when you're in stop and go traffic for 45 minutes

My mom has a new tahoe, and the fuel gauge still does that, even escalades do it.
GM just suck when it comes to fuel gauges.
