Im going to replace the mechanical fan on my TA 85 lg4. Does anybody know a suitable electric fan. Its a daily driver car but has a mild cam and 3" exhaust, HO manifolds.

The single fan from an 87 LG4 or any of the later V8's is a direct swap in to include necessary relays and temp switch. It's more than enough for most motors. I've got a mild vortec 350 in my '87 with this stock setup WITH AC. Summer time South Carolina's no prob.

I'm running a flex-a-lite 160 in my carbed 305. Its also running a mild cam, hooker 2055's, flowmaster catback.
The car never overheated before, but always ran hot. Now the engine runs at a lower temperature and has a lot more noticeable power to the wheels. It was one of the best things I have ever installed in the car.

Re: electric cooling fan for lg4
I am using a proform fan from summit, part number PRO-141-647 cost $169.95 about a year ago so the price is probably gone up a few dollars since then. It's pretty cool in that it has the temp control built in and has an adjustable ON temp ****, red chevy bow tie logo, GM Performance AUTHORIZED PART, and was an absolute breeze to wire up. It also has a provision for A/C trigger and manual ON switch for the dash. I drive in the HOT concrete jungle of Houston and in DAILY stop in go traffic, I have yet to see it Top 220* F.

See if you can find an 87+ thirdgen with the stock single electric fan. On my old car, I got one from an 89ish RS, with a 305TBI in it. Get the upper and lower brackets, and the fan will bolt right in. Also cut off the fan plug with several inches of wire if you can. You can then get a fan temp controller ($40 or so from summit, or local parts store). Mine had a temp sensor that pushed into the radiator fins, and it worked great.
