No issues, I live in Houston Tx, it cools it better than the stock radiator in the summer. Sitting in traffic with the fans on it brings it down to 185, Once I start driving it brings it down to ~180, in 90 degree humid Houston weather. I thought the extra thickness of the radiator might pose a problem, but I have not had an issue. It was well worth the $$.

Re: So you guys want a bolt in all aluminum 3 core radiator?

Hey if any of you guys are interested, I've got a brand new, Champion 3-core (CC951), that's never been installed or run, that I'd be willing to sell for $145 shipped to anywhere in the lower 48. I checked Ebay and my asking price is like 20 bucks cheaper than the cheapest listing on there. It's in perfect condition. Just never used it and ended up going with a different radiator. Anyone who's interested, feel free to send me a PM on here or you can email me at Nosferatu6979@msn.com. Thanks! P.S. I have some pics of it if you'd like to see it before deciding.

Re: So you guys want a bolt in all aluminum 3 core radiator?

Anybody put a Champion 3 or 2 core in lately?

My rad started leaking so its time to get a new one. Either grab the plastic cheapo $80 spectra, or upgrade a bit. But if Im paying twice as much for the Champion 2/3 core, I expect it to not have any issues.

So, lets hear from ya.

Re: So you guys want a bolt in all aluminum 3 core radiator?

Hi Gang, I just bought the champion 3 core with the aluminium shroud and am having a problem getting it to fit. Issue isn't the rubber supports and I know to shave them down. IT is the piece that sits on top and holds it all together. In my 89 TPI 305 the piece that holds in together is slightly curved and narrows in the middle making it tip up in the back regardless of what I do with the mounts. Is there a custom piece that you can buy that fits properly? Thanks for any help you can provide

I have not, but I've been wondering about them. It would certainly increase time in the radiator, but doesn't that restrict flow?

Just installed one last night as my 30 year old oe unit blew. While it's a direct bolt in, it fit ok. I just need to trim down the plastic upper support so the fans will line up again with their mount

Re: So you guys want a bolt in all aluminum 3 core radiator?

I know this thread is about the fans, which I am going to follow the advice given here but I was also wondering about the water pump. From reading around it is stated that my OE is pulling over 10 HP away from my motor (92 Z28 350 with 94k miles) what are you guys doing for your? Thank You

This thread is about Radiators, Electric water pumps will use the least amount of HP but For a daily driver I would stick with a well known Manufacture and use a standard belt driven unit.

Nearly 10 years running my champion/victory radiator on my 412" blown SBC.

No issues.

Re: So you guys want a bolt in all aluminum 3 core radiator?

Will this 3 core rad fit my 88 Firebird Formula 350?
Correct holes for the trans cooling lines?
Will the twin fan set up fit?

Specifictions:
Core size approx : 26.2"*16.9"*2" (665mm*430mm*52mm) --- 3 ROW
Overall size approx : 31"*18.7"*2.76" (785mm*475mm*70mm)
Upper inlet: 1.25" (32mm)
Lower outlet: 1.5" (38mm)
Core and Tank: All Aluminum

It's not that expensive, and available in my country...

Thanks!!

How do I close that small hole half way down the radiator cap ??
There's no senor or anything on the existing radiator, although I can see the hole is closed one way or another..

That goes to your over flow tank.

I know, but I mean the hole halfway the rad...
The transline holes are closed with plastic caps, but the hole in the middle is just open, should be some sort of level plug..??

That is likely for a low coolant sensor

Re: So you guys want a bolt in all aluminum 3 core radiator?

It seems like it would be for a sensor, but it doesn't seem to be the correct size but maybe it's the picture. Id find a plug and use sealant if it goes into the water jacket.

So now for the draincock, I see you all use brass ones in your aluminum rads, no problems?

A three-year bump! Installed the Champion three-row radiator on my LS-swapped 1982 Camaro, and no issues other than what has been mentioned about trimming the upper and lower rubber snubbers (or make your own). OEM upper shroud and single fan went in perfectly.

Re: So you guys want a bolt in all aluminum 3 core radiator?

I'm still looking for that perfect radiator. The one where its a direct bolt in, 3 row or better, and nothing has to be trimmed. This car doesnt have any body modifications, holes drilled into the metal, plastic pieces trimmed, etc, and to have something that bolts right up would be special.

Just dropped in the two core version, had to give the holddown a bit of the business with the grinder but took about 2h to change it and the condenser to a parallel flow style.
