Over Cooling?!?!
I think my engine is running to cool now. My temp. averages 140-160º in 50 to 60º weather. I'm using 50/50 coolant, 3 core radiator, Hayden electric cooling fan,Hyper tech fan switch, 160º thermostat. I am using a 3 wire heated o2 senser so I'm sure I'm going into closed loop ok, at lest I think so!
Anyways what can I do to bring it up to 160-180º?

Re: Over Cooling?!?!
I thought of that, but my chip was burned (from Fastchip) for 160º so I don't know if that will be a problem.

Re: Over Cooling?!?!
A 160 is too cold anyways, unless your chip has been tuned to allow open loop that low. Has it?

Yea I told fast chip that I have a 160 thermostat so thats what he set it at to go into closed loop. I have a 180 that I could put in, I just don't know if the ecm will freak out.

hmm, my car runs around that temp too... I think my chip is burned for a 160 as well... What problems could that cause?

Re: Over Cooling?!?!
I'm not sure yet, although I took it out for a cruise last week for several hours, the air temp was in the low 60's when I started and started to dip into the upper 50's by late afternoon. Towards the end of my ride I started to notice a slight drop in the rpm's of about 3-400. It would only last for a second, and then it was fine. I noticed that my engine temp. was about 150 degrees. I would say for about the last 20 minutes or so of the ride it would do this about ever1-2 minutes. The car runs fine other than that oddity. I was thinking that due to the cooler temp. change, and my engine running cooler it might have some kind of effect on the performance.

Re: Over Cooling?!?!
actually, these engines love to run cool. I have an L98 and would love to have your problem, my car is tons more responsive around 150-160 degrees. I notice it everytime I drive it, but living in Las Vegas kinda bites my hopes of getting my car to run there..

So then I guess I'll just leave it for now, and keep an eyeball on it. Although I don't know how much more decent weather I have before I put the ROC to sleep for the winter!

Re: Over Cooling?!?!
What's the difference between having a 160° and the car running "hot" at 180° compared to simply having a 180° thermostat?
Nothing.
I'd suspect the only reason chip tuners want to know what thermostat you have is to determine when to program the fan to turn on.
Nothing.
