Cooling fan's short and simple..

Ok I hate the cooling fan designs in these cars and i'm especially beyond fed up with mine. The only one that I have running is my secondary and the only reason it runs is cause I have a damn paper clip in my relay.. I have no clue why the primary doesn't work but it doesn't. I'm about to be commuting alot.. Is there a very simple way I can ground a wire or anything that can just get both fans to turn on as soon as I turn that damn key over? I want both to run always and alway and forever, only when engine is running of course. thanks.

At the relay for your primary cooling fan - there is a green wire with white stripe - tap a 12v+ in run wire to that wire - then primary fan will always run when key is on.

Your primary fan is controlled by the computer. The computer gets it's temp info from the CTS. You might have an issue with your CTS. This might cause other problems as well - since you computer uses info fro CTS to set parameters for general running conditions, so your engine may stay in open loop or closed loop mode always, affecting mileage, or some other issue. I'd try replacing your CTS first.

CTS is in intake by the thermostat housing - it has a black wire and yellow wire to it.

Hey thanks I was up all night losing sleep over this looking at the wiring diagram in my chiltons I just really suck with electrical, I don't know **** about it. I can change any part in a car with no problems but when it comes to shorts grounds anything like that I'm completely lost.

Re: Cooling fan's short and simple..

So I just took a paper clip and stuck it into the primary relay connector. I connected tan to black/red, and it works. I don't like it but considering I'm a broke 21 year old and I don't start my new job for 10 days which then ill have to wait another 14 to get paid it's my only option. So right now my relay's are physically not doing ****. I'm not sure if this is going to start a fire or what may happen, and its probably really stupid. Any idea of what repercussions I may be facing?

Re: Cooling fan's short and simple..

Connecting tan to black/red means your cooling fan is drawing all it's amps needed through the little tan wire - not good - could melt/short/cause fire. Just get 2 inline taps and a chunk of wire - find a GROUND and put one end of wire there, and other end tap into the dark green with white stripe wire at relay, then reinstall relay.

Which applies +12v to an ECM controlled ground. GROUND the grn/wht wire.

Ohhh, you're right - was reading things backwards in the wiring diag Corrected the post - connect green/white to a ground, NOT a hot-in-run.
