fan...puller or pusher??
87 is the iroc cooling fans pusher or pullers?? And what works better a puller or a pusher as im buying a new aftermarket fan from summit.
Re: fan...puller or pusher??
i believe all factory fan set ups are pullers, and from what i read that is preferred over a pusher by most unless there is not room due to a turbo or something being in the way of a puller set up

There is no one "better", just what fits in your given configuration. I'm considering a pusher to mount in front of my condenser to help with "idle" temps.

Pull is better.
Almost anything you buy new from a parts place is going to be junk, short of the stuff thats going to run you $400+
Either go get a 4th gen fan setup and replace the motors with two new motors, or there are some factory chrysler ones that are pretty good duals, both will knock down almost anything you can mail order.

Re: fan...puller or pusher??
pullers are always more effective than pusher fans-reason is that as the fan proppels the air,it causes the discharge airstream to rotate like a cyclone-airflow hits radiator/condenser fins at an angle greatly reducing airflow vs air pulled through the radiator straight by a puller fan.
Pusher fans are rarely used as the primary fan,but some '80s Renault and Toyota cars used them-radiator too close to engine to use puller fans...

Re: fan...puller or pusher??
I have had so many fan combos (testing) what works best. Before my taurus fan I had a pusher and puller and that worked the best. Here in Arkansas it gets 100 plus degrees from late June to september. July and August are murder and this year I have done extensive testing and with regular fans a pusher and puller combined worked best for me. I now have a taurus fan and the car will not get over about 190 or halfway between 180 and 220 and then it goes back down to 180. I can actually watch the thermostat open and close by the gauge. I have learned that you must have the air dam and baffle in good shape and have your seals in place that make sure the incomng air goes through the rad and not leaking around it.

Corvettes use one puller and one pusher. Pusher in front of condenser and a puller after the radiator.

I'm pretty sure C5 and C6 use a dual puller, just like 4th gen dual pullers, which have been tested beside the hailed SHO fan and outflow it.
While I dont doubt the SHO fan, the 4th gen dual fans are much better.

Re: fan...puller or pusher??
the auxillary pusher fan is found on certain '84-89 C4 'vettes-those with the oil cooler option IIRC,it's a pretty small fan-about 11.5"and not real powerful

Re: fan...puller or pusher??
You could run the fan your getting as a inside puller with a after market switch set at 180*(something in that range) as the primary fan then if you need it you could install a large 16in. pusher fan in front to come on at a higher temp such as 200*as backup.
I have a large aftermarket 12.5in. x 17in. oil cooler so I have mine set up in a similar manner.

Re: fan...puller or pusher??
If I under stand your question properly ,a puller is mounted on the inside of a radiator and "pulls" air through the radiator from the front towards the engine.
A pusher fan is mounted on the front of the radiator and by switching the wires around it will "push" air from the front of the car through the radiator towards the engine.

Get one puller and two pushers.
