91 Z28 5.0 Replacement fan switch harness

Is there anywhere I can find a replacement harness for the radiator fan switch, the sensor located above the knock sensor on the right hand side of the engine under the exhaust manifold? its a single wire leading into it.

There is a few aftermarket people making them. Hypertech makes a 160 and 180 temp one I think. Do a search for Hypertech, Derale. Flexalite and some others and you will find what you are looking for.

How much of the wire/harness do you need? Buy a new switch, it comes with the plug for it, then just run your own wire from there if you need.

Where can I find the new harness for it? Turns out the sensor wasnt even hooked up so I only get one cooling fan...and it looks like it uses the same one as the knock sensor, which also needs a new one...

One fan is controlled by the ECM and comes on when the ECM tells it to. The second fan (Or single fan on single fan set ups), is controlled by the switch in the block. If the harness isn't there, it's probably been cut back, and you'll have to search for it. Do a search on here for it and you should be able to find the wire harness diagram.

Also, both fans should come on with the AC regardless of engine temps.

Now, if all you nees is the plug that goes into the fan switch and you have the rest of the wiring that comes from the car, then just buy a new fan switch, they come with the plug/harness piece that you splice into the existing wire.

The knock sensor should also come with this piece.

Finally located the single wire for the fan, it was cut. I got it back to the sensor, just need the harness. I got the replacement from autozone, didnt come with the harness. guess ill return that and go to the other parts store. Thanks for the info.

I picked up a handful of the pigtails for these from Rock Auto a month or so ago. The temp switch and KS use the same connector.

It completely baffles me why people would cut wires, especially if they don't know what they're fore, as your previous owner obviously didn't. I'm glad you found the right wire! AZ or someone should sell the switch with the plug harness, I bought mine from Summit, it's a Jet Fan switch, came with the harness.
