Removing AC Opinion

Pretty much, I'm in debate with people on whether to remove my AC system. I want to because of aesthetics and I feel it would make my engine bay look cleaner, but people always make the statement on if I sell the car, having AC is a selling point. What do you guys think? I don't have much cash right now but was looking for work to do on it over the summer and figured this would be a cheap job that would keep my occupied for a bit. All I would need is a bipass pully that I could get for like 40 bucks.

Re: Removing AC Opinion

So you are just wanting to remove the compressor?

Or are you going to change the box and everything?

Oh but yes it will look cleaner.. a LOT cleaner! Without the AC and the AIR stuff you can get it very clean looking.

If you are leaving the AC heater box with all open connections, I'd leave it on, with a half removed AC it looks butchered IMO

Yep, if you're going to do it.....don't do it half-way. Take it all out, or leave it.

Re: Removing AC Opinion

I assume you all are referring to the AC radiator as the "heater box" and not the heater core? I want to remove all the AC components, as in... lines, compressor, radiator, electrical. I find it to be gross looking and It is not a daily driver, heck... even my daily doesn't have AC. But I appreciate all the feedback. It really helps. Has anyone had experience with doing this? I know you "should" get the lines evacuated by someone who had that machine that sucks all the freeon (or whatever u wana call it) out.

Re: Removing AC Opinion

No I am refering to the Heater box as the heater box. The box on your firewall that holds the blower fan, and controls the air movement.

Cleans up the firewall a ton, gives you better access to spark plugs 6 and 8 too.

Plenty have done it here.

Yes, if your AC still has R12 freon you are supposed to have it removed by a shop.

Re: Removing AC Opinion

Oh I gotcha. Well... I suppose it would be cool. Then I could take out the air controller in the car and do a double din radio.

Re: Removing AC Opinion

Hmm. Ok I shall look at doing that. I really have no intent on selling the car for a while (Ive had it for 6 years now) and I just want to make the Ramjet I have look better. Gatta let them valve covers show.
