Do you have the serp belt system on your car?

Re: removing ac compressor?

Assuming you do. You'll need to retain the bracket so the tensioner has a mount. You can get an a/c delete pully. I'm using this one that I found on Amazon.com for about $30.00

Dorman HELP AC Bypass Pulley 34157

I'm also running an idler pulley where the smog pump used to be just so that long space between the a/c delete pulley and the crank is accounted for.

I looks like this when it's all back together.

This is all assuming that you have the same belt system as I do on my 91 model car.

Re: removing ac compressor?

The stock A/C and smog bracket is the mount for the belt tensioner. Does your bracket look like this? Or are you saying you no longer have or never had the the bracket?

I think I got my pulley from jegs or summit. Can't remember. I think this is the p/n though: Chevrolet Performance 10129569

I'm not sure such a thing exists..unless you want to go to a completely new/custom style serpentine belt system for the whole engine. That setup above with the stock brackets and delete pulleys is typical of what you'd see on a lot stock-ish thirdgen cars though.

Re: removing ac compressor?

No real good solution. Most likely you'll need to convert to v-belts or go to an aftermarket serpentine setup to get rid of that bracket.

Not sturdy at all since it's all one unit.
