i just got the ac delete box for the firewall. the smog pump is allready gone now iam removing the compressor. what do i do about the big ugly bracket that hold the smog pump and compressor? the tensioner pulley is there allso.my car is a 86 with a 88 and up serpentine belt setup due to the procharger.do i buy a ac delete pulley or what? i want the big bracket gone.iam lost on this. is there a write up on this or can someone point me in the right direction.
Assuming you do. You'll need to retain the bracket so the tensioner has a mount. You can get an a/c delete pully. I'm using this one that I found on Amazon.com for about $30.00

I'm also running an idler pulley where the smog pump used to be just so that long space between the a/c delete pulley and the crank is accounted for.
I looks like this when it's all back together.
This is all assuming that you have the same belt system as I do on my 91 model car.
The stock A/C and smog bracket is the mount for the belt tensioner. Does your bracket look like this? Or are you saying you no longer have or never had the the bracket?
I think I got my pulley from jegs or summit. Can't remember. I think this is the p/n though: Chevrolet Performance 10129569
ya thats the bracket i have on my car. but i was looking for somthing differant.do they make or did they make a differant bracket?
I'm not sure such a thing exists..unless you want to go to a completely new/custom style serpentine belt system for the whole engine. That setup above with the stock brackets and delete pulleys is typical of what you'd see on a lot stock-ish thirdgen cars though.
