84 bird, was 305 now 355. Changed from v-belt to serpentine. Serpentine system from early 90s pickup.. 5.7. The fan pushes air verses pulls, fan/waterpump run counter clockwise from front of engine. A couple of questions, will a reverse blade fan pull verses push. If yes, does anyone have a part number for a blade that I can run a clutch fan with? And, will my ac work ok with this setup? Thanks, a quite confused Byron

firebirds came with 17"fan blade-I think mustangs,~1981-85,had a 7-blade,17" reverse rotation clutch fan-also could trim a larger reverse rotation fan down to correct diameter as long as job done perfect so fan turns true and is balanced.
Thanks, I know the 17" is correct.. Any additional info on ac and rotation would be greatly appreciated. Thx b

if a new fan blade is wanted,flex-a-lite #5917 looks suitable.Another possible OEM fan that might be suitable if you don't mind a late model plastic one is 4cyl.colorado/canyon-fan on my 06 canyon has 7 deep pitch blades and pulls a lot of air even at low idle-i'll check diameter next time I have hood up.Probably can use '88 up A/C lines?-presuming the pickup serpentine setup is close to a thirdgen setup.'86 up thirdgen A/C condensers are higher fin density than earlier ones, but don't know if any difference in performance could be noticed between early and late condensers.

Here is one for clutch style counter-clockwise (reverse rotation) 17" mechanical fan. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/der-17917/overview/
Also did you change your water pump because you need a reverse rotation water pump?

when I pulled my serpentine set-up in a salvage yard, I found a fan blade from an S-10 blazer with serp. to use.
The water pump was changed, the water flows from driver side to passenger side, or from top to bottom. The water pump is a flat or no groove pulley. I will do some more checking on the fan blade, thank you to all that responded. I will let you know the outcome. Thx byron

I bought the Derale 18" clockwise clutch style fan that uses a v belt for my 72 C10 a few weeks ago. It works just fine and is sturdy, unlike flex style fans which can bend and break. Only problem, like that review said, was the holes seemed like a 1/16" off. I put the bolts in and tighten them up anyways and it still worked fine.
Robotic, when you say clockwise, are in driver seat or in front of car looking at the fan blade? This is a crazy issue, my first 3rd gen rebuild... Great help from many folks here on the forum. And it is much appreciated.. Byron

Serpentine belt goes counter-clockwise(look at the water pump).
88-92 had this style.
Robotic, yup, that could be the picture for the motor I put in. I do believe the derale blade will fix my issue. Thanks for the clarification on the two set-ups as well as the clockwise/counterclockwise rotation. Byron
