Re: L-69 Fan Mounting?...

A more or less flat plastic piece that bolts to the bottom of the core support. 2 bolts at the bottom if memory serves, and 2 bolts that hold the fan to it.

Any thirdgen with a single fan... V6, TBI, anything that didn't have duals.

Thanks, Drew. I don't know what happened to the one from my parts car. I can't imagine I would have thrown it away...

Re: L-69 Fan Mounting?...

Okay, I got a lower bracket. Is there supposed to be some kind of spacers that go between the fan and lower bracket?
It does not line up with the top bracket/shroud...

Re: L-69 Fan Mounting?...

Guys, I need HELP. I just cannot see how the bottom of this fan is supposed to mount (I have he lower bracket now).
I'm putting an electric fan from a '84 L-69 equipped thirdgen into a '83 Firebird that never had an electric fan. What I really need are some pictures so I can see what I'm missing or doing wrong...

Re: L-69 Fan Mounting?...

if memory serves, a pair of u-nuts attach to the bottom fan bracket piece and the bolts go through the bottom radiator tray into it. it sits inside, on the radiator side, of the metal lip of the tray.

I can confirm with a pic later today if needed.

Re: L-69 Fan Mounting?...

Thanks for the pics. Are the power steering line clips mounting to the same holes as the lower fan bracket?...

Re: L-69 Fan Mounting?...

Later cars don't have additional brackets for the steering cooler, they just double up with the lower fan mount bolts.

Re: L-69 Fan Mounting?...

Okay, I got the fan mounted. Thanks for all the advice. Crazy how something so simple can be so confusing.
The confusion came from not having the bottom fan bracket, and from the mounting of the power steering cooling lines. Does anyone here happen to have an extra pair of those early mounting brackets for the cooling lines? It's really a pain trying to mount them through the same holes as the fan bracket. Right now I'm temporarily using zip-ties...

Re: L-69 Fan Mounting?...

you can pick up some similar mounting brackets for the cooler lines from a hardware store and make them work.I used them for plug wire holders once:

So I guess no one has any of those. They must be rare...
