Is My Stock 305 Chip The Problem?
I just put edelbrock rpm heads, superrram upper and lower intake, and a crane 100072 cam.now before i did the swap it was just a 355 with stock parts on top of it with the 305 chip.i ran fine.but know with my new set up(still a 355)after it goes into closed loop and i hit full throttle it bogs for a second and then halls ballz and while at wot it will bog in like 2nd and 3rd gear.im pretty sure its a chip issue but if i get a stock 350tpi chip will it help out for know until i get the cash to get a custom chip?

you will be better off getting a custom chip burned. money may be a factor but if you don't spend just think of this, engine toasted. thats gonna cost you more than a chip to replace. did you upgrade your injectors? if your running the 19# injectors, you are really holding that engine back and would be a good reason for the bogging. another thing, what is your fuel pressure set at?

A stock 350 chip would likely be a little better, but it still won't be right. Not with 24# injectors, and that cam.
Instead of paying someone for a custom chip, why not get the equipment and do it yourself? Using free software (i.e. TunerPro), and an inexpensive burner like Moates' Flash-n-Burn, you can be doing your own chips for about $120 or so. You'd probably spend at least that much on one custom chip, that probably isn't going to be as good as what you'd be able to do yourself after a little practice.
You might want to go next door to the DIY PROM forum, and read through some of the "stickies" there.
Good luck,

There is a little bit of a learning curve at first, but once you get introduced to the basics, actually burning the chip is a very easy task. With the software that's available nowadays, making changes to the fuel, timing, etc., is also very easy -- no more difficult than turning the mixture screws on a carburetor. Determining exactly what changes should be made, to give the engine exactly what it wants, is still the time consuming part. At least if you want to get things really, really right. But you can probably have the car running "pretty good" (at least a lot better than it is now) relatively quickly.
Here's a couple of articles you should read. The first is a little dated, in that there are more options for equipment now, but it still explains the process well.

The second thread, unfortunately went off on a tangent, but the first part should be of interest.

If nothing else, get yourself a cheap laptop, and set it up for ALDL scanning. Even if you're not going to do your own chips, being able to see the data the ECM is seeing, is invaluable.

i did a 305 to 350 sway. he sent me a chip.. i have the same problem as you. he told me to send my stock 305 chip back and he will hook me up with another chip, and program the chip to stay in open loop mode so i don't have the problem you have.. plus his chips are alot cheaper then others at 74 bucks a chip. he ships very fast, helps in any way he can.. he's helped me alot on my motor swap. give his site a look. trust me i had to run the stock 305 chip in my car and it was terrible! the chip is most likely your problem. like i said if brian's chip doens't work the first time all you gotta do is send it back and he'll fix the problem.

wait a minute!!! the last i knew open loop pulls timing, correct me if i'm wrong, but won't you lose out on valuable hp?
i'm not sure about losing hp.. but every car starts up and runs in open loop mode until it warms up.. and i never felt a difference from when it was first started or running for awhile. if anything i think cars run better cooled down when they first start.

my fault i was thinking limp mode. as for the car running better cool, well that's because the air isn't being heated and actually provides for better hp.
