Tpi ?
I am looking for a little info before I start my TPI swap and tuning project. I have the engine in my signature and am about to swap to a mass air TPI out of an 89 camaro 350. My question is do you think that the engine will be driveable with the stock chip until I can address the issues.
Also which is the best BIN to start with?

No flame intended but it seems to me it would run better if you told the computer the engine was a 454. I'm sure it would be interested in knowing. It would be driveable but give it a better fuel and timing curve than a factory L98. As Grumpy has said many times give the engine what it wants and you will see more power. The L98 chip is at best a compromise. As you may know an L98 benefits from reprogramming, mine sure has and I'm not done yet.

Understand though, this particular swap was kind of hard on the bank account. With what I just recently spent on the car, and according to the wife... it'll be running as-is for awhile (at least until Spring).
Future mods call for a HSR, along with the proper tuning of course.... but until then, I have no choice but to run the stock ECM.
Again though, she idles suprisingly well. However, she does fall flat on her face anywhere above 4000-RPM, all thanks to a stock TPI unit.

Glad to hear that. Means I can turn the fuel pressure up a little and hopefully not have to worry about not being able to drive it until I tweak it enough.
