If you had to????? Prom question
If you had to buy a over the counter Prom, which would it be...All I have done to the car is all the free mods..Cold air package, and complete exhaust..I can change the Thermostat, and I dont mind running premium gas.Am putting a gear, and posi in this week..I will do my own in the future, but for now I think I will buy one...At this point is there even a reason too??? Will I gain any real world power??? What are you guys running??? And would you buy the same one again??? Thanks, Tom

I've look inside all, and they are all a waste of money. They do little or nothing, and some even hurt performance.
Best is tuning yourself. Second best is to get someone who will tune your car with "hands-on" access. I am not impressed with what I've seen with "mail-order" eproms where the tuner does not have actual access to the car, others do claim "okay results" - but then again, they have never had a "hands-on" tune.
But "Over the counter" is a complete waste.

The cost of the equipment is not much more than those "over the counter" eproms. And, when your engine is "stock" is the BEST TIME to learn how to burn your own eprom. If you make any mistakes, you have the original as backup...so you will never be stuck.
The worst time to get into eprom burning, is AFTER you have made major modifications to your car. Now, you haven't got a clue where to start and you are desparate to get the car going.
Typically, they then spend BIG $ on a custom eprom which hopefully will be okay, but usually has "issues" (sometimes major, sometimes minor). Eventually, they get so fed up they finally learn how to burn their own eproms and once they learn, the first thing they do is look inside their "custom eprom". That is when they realized that the eprom was not the only thing that got burned.
