Cop car prom install ???S

So i got my cop car chip today still in the ecu, from 91-93 caprice, my car 89 camaro now with 350 bottom end with stock 305 heads, intake,I have done the esc, knock sensor and the injectors i got from a truck I think are 65lbers but i'm not certain...What I'm trying to figure out is I plugged in the prom from the cop car ecu into my stock 746 ecu and I get a flickering check light, which from researching means it either doesn't like the prom, voltage low, or wiring..The car is misfiring and will hardly rev to anything over 1000 rpm.. I know the battery was a little drained from it sitting but i can charge that no prob I just don't think its the battery, have I done something wrong or missed a step?? I'm new to the tuning aspect so far I do have an aldl cable and software but I the cop car ecu was cheap and figuerd I could plug in and go,, do this ecu have a learning curve like some imports where it takes a few trips to calculate new info?? THanks for any help

Re: Cop car prom install ???S

The fast flickering SES means that it is the wrong chip for your ECM. The '92 and '93 Caprices didn't use the '8746 ECM.

Moving to DFI & ECM board.

8746 is 1989-1992 F body and B body V8 305-350cid. I dont believe the F body used a 350 CID so you need one from a B body Caprice....
check craig moates site under downloads for .bin. One can be purchased at tbichips.com or EBay...

Your best bet is to always do your own tuning. Just start with a stock calibration (BIN) and go from there. If you are interested in a 5.7l Cop Car cal that works in the '8746, it is ANLU.

Re: Cop car prom install ???S

Thanks guys, is there a catalog or something for the 4 letter wording on the chips then the numbers afterwards as to what they mean and what cars they are for and what not, I'm new at this and apparently was told wrong by someone the other day what these mean, now I have a cop car ecm and prom that is of no use to me, anybody need it?

Re: Cop car prom install ???S

Post with the Service No. from the paper label on the ECM along with the 4-letter code on the EPROM. I can tell you whether they should work together along with what they are from.

Re: Cop car prom install ???S

The '8746 ECM uses the 2732 EPROM.
