Battery Fusible link

Hi all! I have a 85 Firebird on repair.
The ECM's memory power wire which goes in the engine bay to the battery direction after the pigtail (near the coolant bottle) is missing. As i read from the service manual i need to connect it to the battery + side. But do i need to use any fuse between the pigtail and the battery? Or just directly power to work it right? In the diagram was a fusible link.
I try to look up what is it. As i found, its some kind of wire, which act's like a normal fuse at overloads to protect the wiring. But the service manual did not tell the specific type of the link.
And other way here in Europe most of the auto part shops looks strange, when you tell your car is American made. So i fear i did not have choice to buy replacement here. I would like to ask, i can use blade fuse on this wire, if yes which type? I know the professionals recommend to replace with original link, but if i cant find? And this is just memory power they did not pick up lot. Or i thinking on wrong ways?
Will wait for your kind reply. Regards:László

Re: Battery Fusible link

You can use a blade type fuse. The newer 3rd gens used a 20 A fuse inline with that wire. Place the fuse near the battery.

OK i will try it. But other response welcomed too!
Interesting for me, the shop manual tells almost everything detailed, but did not indicate the fusible link type, and an interchangeable list for blade fuses.

Other missing thing. Last weekend i try to fix the dimmer switch assy, because the tilt leveler wont work. The switch is ok, rod ok, moves freely, but missing a small element from the tilt leveler end to the rod. And the book did not show this part in the steering c. So i know i have a missing part, but i don't know how it called, how it looks and how it mounts .> Cool.

Re: Battery Fusible link

Hello!
I connected the wire with a 20 amp fuse!
But when i turn the key in the car something starts to rapidly clacking in the engine bay. As i hear, could be something around the carb. (ohh the car is a 1985. 5.0L V8 4bbl LG4)
So i disconnected it again but now just at the pigtail. I don't know what can be it. Any tip to i can find the problem base?

Re: Battery Fusible link

The clicking at the carb is normal. It is the MCS oscillating.

Go up to the TGO site menu bar, click Search, select Advanced Search. Enter MCS for the search term, select the carburetor board. Gets about 250 hits.
