Car: 85 firebird
Engine: 2.8v6
Transmission: 700r4
Axle/Gears: 3.73
ecm prom compatability
need help figuring out if the prom is correct for the computer i have a 85 firebird with the 2.8 i have a 1226870 computer but it has a 16032500 prom

There should be a 3 or 4 letter code on the PROM, what is it? If stock it is on the silver label.

FRH is correct for an '85 Firebird with the 2.8l engine. It is FED emissions, with the 700R4 transmission (automatic), and manually controlled A/C system.

thanks for your help uh does would it be worth replacing the 6870 with the later model 7302

The ECM won't come with a PROM and the '6870 PROM won't work in the '7302 ECM. I don't know if the '7302 ECM is any better, although it likely does has better firmware.
