Still won't work. Need the same Service Number ECM as is currently in the car.

I ran a 350 tbi in an s10 with a 4.3 ECM. It actually ran better too with the V6 computer than the correct V8 one. I was told the same thing that Rbob is saying but turns out people give out confident answers without ever trying things on their own to back them up. Edit- just realized you are talking about MPFI vs TBI. I don't think camaros ever came with a tbi v6 so yeah I doubt it would work.
The main thing that I think it different with interchanging a V6/V8 ecm is the tach signal is off because of the cylinder count. I can't verify for sure though. Like I said, mine ran pretty darn good actually off of the 4.3 ECM with the 4.3 prom. This was before I really knew what I was doing though. I was just a dumb *** kid, haha. I timed it "by ear", had no wideband O2 sensor, and not even a good clue as to what I was doing. The wiring harnesses on those two engines are virtually identical with the exception of a couple air conditioning wires in my case.

Sure it could. The computer does,t know what engine it is on. Just like a carburetor doesn't know what engine it is on. You may have to re program the computer since it will be going on a larger engine, and install larger injectors or increase fuel pressure. Just look at the wiring diagrams and see if you can see anything that may pertain to the v6, that may need to be changed for the v8. Remember nothing is impossible.
