the general consensus is they are a waste of money.you would be better served to have someone burn you a chip for your particular car. theres a guy on here "tuned performance " that I recommend. he has helped me and others.he does good work and his prices and attention to detail are top notch. give him a shout,he can help you

Sometimes on generic chips, you can get codes thrown. I would recommend a tuned chip for your car also. You can have custom work such as EGR delete etc. done along with advance your timing. http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e3...ps417c111a.jpg and also another good chip burner, http://tbichips.com/ Thread Starter

Is a custom tuned chip worth my while if my engine is still stock?? My only performance upgrade as of now is a 3" catback exhaust.

Re: Anyone use a Hypertech chip??
All a chip will do is advance the timing some for a little more performance. Once you start changing the exhaust to headers and a free flowing intake and a good tune-up with plugs, cap, rotor, etc., you would notice a quite more difference in performance. Like i said earlier, a generic over the counter chip is more hype than good, they can cause trouble codes sometimes, and you probably won't notice much of an improvement. And one more thing, you have a nice looking car on your hands. My dad had a '91 red, with a v-6, they were in their late 60's at the time, and did they ever like it!

I don't really have long term plans for the 305 tbi that's currently in my car. Either this winter or next, I want to swap in a 350. Though, for the time being, I'm looking for some easy little ways to tweak the performance in my 305 a bit.

Open up the pump. Intake and exhaust. That will wake up the 305. Header's will fit the 305 and the 350.
