Need help understanding what I need

I have a 92 c1500 that I have slightly modified. The 350 is an older block that has been balanced and blue printed. It has a stage 3 cam, ultimate tbi mods, tbi spacer, injector pod spacer, increased fuel pressure capability, dual exhaust, and others. It has the 700r4 transmission. I'm having trouble understanding exactly what I need to be able to hook my laptop to my truck for data logging and real time programming. I also want to be able to make it possible to send the data logging results to a qualified programmer who can then send me a program file back that I can load into the ecm without having to change any hardware.

Re: Need help understanding what I need

I can help you if you send your ecm to www.moates.net and have the adapter soldered in that allows use of a 28 pin chip. For information about datalogging and tuning see my custom tuning and datalogging2 pages. www.scotthansen.net

I read something about a new ecm that has flashable memory and is far superior to the slow stock dinosaur currently in my truck. Would it be worth the money to go that route? Also if I was going to send my ecm to have the adapter installed would I be advised to locate one of the better ones from a parts yard? Thanks for your time and advice

I don't know if the EBL can replace the 16146299 that uses the $99 definition and it may. However, once you go EBL I can no longer help you and you're dependent on the members of this board and it's owner.

I like to think of myself as being of some intelligence. Understanding the foreign jargon is where I get lost. All the acronyms and abbreviations.

Having a spare ecu is the way to go. If it goes down you can slap the other in. All they do at Craig's is just solder in a pin header. If you can do this, just order his parts. You need any parts just go to him. What all do you have to get you going? You said some one with programming so l have to assume you have a burner or/and an emu of some kind.

Just get the EBL system. It's far superior than stock with many features including some self-learning capabilities for the VE tables. Faster data logging, n-alpha blending, and tons more. Lots of board members including myself that can help you tune it. It's so much better it's hilarious that anyone would even bother with factory BIN tuning when a product this advanced is available for such a low price.

Thank you very much. This is exactly what I was looking for. Far more advanced, easier to understand, and don't have to buy countless items, or have 7 different programs to master.

Moates gp1 adapter should plug in and work fine. No need to soldier anything

That ECM uses the small 24 pin PROM. Would require the G2 adapter to be soldered in.

I get that. But I dont know what all you have to get you going. I already had almost all my stuff, otherwise I may have gone the ebl route. Which I may still, I do want to try it out. But that also means I will have to start again. And I am not far off from where I need to be. I am on code $59, but the code for yours is different. Ive done the basics on those for people, and the code is pretty straight forward. The link is a copy and paste. It shows what needs to be done.
