Got the ebl flash 2 need help
I just got my ebl flash 2 ecm and have installed it. I have done some data logging. I am having troubles following the guide from dynamic EFI. I think I'm going to need someone to hold my hand until I learn how to walk.

Re: Got the ebl flash 2 need help
So you have a mildly modified TBI system with a cam? Stock sized injector at stock pressure?
How does it run? What part of the setup do you need help with first? Have you driven it and done any VE learns?

Re: Got the ebl flash 2 need help
I have tuner pro rt. Am I supposed to run it or the ebl program. I did three data logs using the wud. I don't understand the part about selecting the bin files then saving them so they don't get overwritten.

Re: Got the ebl flash 2 need help
TunerPro RT is for making changes to the tune. The WUD is for watching live data, diagnostics, data-logging, and doing VE learning, etc - the only changes it can make to the tune are via the VE learning - this only makes fueling changes and does not apply them but instead creates a new map that may be manually loaded through the "flash" screen of the WUD after you review the changes and approve of it's suggestions.
You should first set your fuel pressure to a known value so you can calculate your fuel injector sizing parameters and program those into the BIN.
The instructions are telling you to use a preconfigured BIN that comes with the EBL but save it to a different file name for your specific application in a different directory so you don't over-write the preconfigured BIN that comes with the EBL (in case you need to start over for example, or wish to reference what changes you have made).

Re: Got the ebl flash 2 need help
The EBL Flash-II is supplied with 30-some base calibrations:
Start->All Programs->EBL Flash->List of BINs
No need to import the BIN, open it from the File menu.

Re: Got the ebl flash 2 need help
There is an included text document that lists the BIN files and what they are setup for.
But to properly set it up, you will need to know your fuel pressure.

Re: Got the ebl flash 2 need help
..... the EBL doesn't accept a fuel pressure signal. I mean it could.... through the wideband analog voltage input but that's not really neccessary.
You just need to measure the fuel pressure (with vacuum disconnected from the regulator) so you can calculate the Base Pulse Constant. You use the EBL_Utility program to calculate the BPC based on injector size and fuel pressure.
Read though this link on setup of the initial parameters:

Re: Got the ebl flash 2 need help
We have been using Honey Well pressure sensors for fuel and otherwise. Getting one for TBI (0 - 50 psi) is problematic. Here is one part number to look for:
MLH050PGB06A
That is a 5V sensor (power), With a .5 (0 psi) to 4.5 V (50 psi) sensor output. Has a 1/8" male NPT pressure connection. Electrical is a common 3-wire Metri-Pak round/triangle connector.
It is also available with different connections (pressure and electrical).

Re: Got the ebl flash 2 need help
Oh yeah. Forgot about the general use inputs.
Still - you just need to measure the pressure with a shop gauge so you can setup the BPC values. For simplicity (initial tuning) just put it at stock pressure till you know for certain you need more than stock pressure will supply. I understand you can also use the BB injectors rather than increasing fuel pressure.

Re: Got the ebl flash 2 need help
I feel stupid and slightly overwhelmed and out of my element. I become quickly lost when reading the help paiges. I'm not computer dumb but I also have no experience doing this kind of stuff. I try to look up the meanings of acronyms and other things I don't know only to run into more of the same. Before I know it I don't even remember what I was trying to understand in the first place and become frustrated.
As of right now I haven't changed a thing. In my opinion my truck ran better with the stock ecm.
I just want to feel like it was worth all the money and time I've spent on this truck. So far this feeling remains out of reach.

Open the List of BINs file and find the one that most closely matches the drivetrain. Find it in the BIN folder and flash it into the ECM. Start the engine and see how it is. Best to follow up with VE Learns.
As for the stage 3 cam, I have no idea what that is. So no suggestions on what to do there. Since you increased the fuel pressure need to get that value and use the EBL Utility to calculate the "BPC - BPC vs VAC" table of values.

I will do that thank you.
As for a stage 3 cam it is referenced from Harris Tbi performance.

Tuning must be accomplished in some form. Be that carb jetting, dropping it off at the tuner's shop, or crawling through micro-code and burning chips..... there are all degrees of difficulty. The EBL system uses what you already had and
costs little more than a shiny new carb. No it's not a fancy-pants stand-alone injection system that tunes itself while you watch cartoons on it's touch screen display. But it also didn't cost $1200 - $4000 just to look at it in a box.

Cam specifications would be more helpful than this retailer's suggestion of what "stage" it is (subjective).

Re: Got the ebl flash 2 need help
So the cam came from Harris? I'm not seeing cams at a quick glance on their site.
If it dd not come from them, do you know what cam it is? What manufacturer, a model #, and / or any of the cam specs?
FYI...I'll need to get an EBL for my car too, so I follow these threads with great interest to learn as much as I can. I've read the EBL site page by page several times. I can eventually get to a point where I sort of understand what's going on. But I quickly forget all the acronyms when I'm not using them daily. Reading all that info through and through again and again is the only advice I can offer. I've followed threads where RBob and others have walked folks through these issues. Hang in there.

Re: Got the ebl flash 2 need help
I feel like I’d be in the same boat and that’s why I’m gonna get this running on a stock TBI setup in my truck before working on the tune a bit.
Then make a few upgrades and re-tuning for those before adding a TPI intake system and new heads.
Finally a cam swap.
I feel like these steps will simplify the tuning process and by the time I get to the cam swap I’ll be more comfortable with the timing process
