It takes a OBD1 port, I believe but where is it. I've heard from in front of you right knee in the drivers seat, to next to the Fuse box. Should I be taking off the cover over this area to find it. ? What am I missing here. I always hate to start tearing things apart looking for something when I don't know where it is. Thank You
Can't really miss it. If you've got the hush panel under the dash, it's behind the little 1x3" plastic cover that looks like it'll just snap off (it does).

Well my aftermarket oil, temp, volt gauge was up against it. I got to it, Grounded The top right two terminals, turned on the ignition and nothing. This is a different Engine then the one that was in it originally, if that means anything. Thanks for the response.
No the only lightthat comes on is the seat belt light , it stays on for 20 seconds then goes off, none of the rest of the safety/diagnostic lights come on at all. I checked the fuse
I would recommend getting an OBD1 "Reader". It isn't really a reader, it is just a plug that connects to your diagnostic port and shorts the pins the same way you would with a paper clip. But it is a lot easier to use than the paper clip. You just plug it in, turn on the ignition and get your code.
This is is the one I got. It also comes with a nice manual that has the codes in it
