1992 camaro z28 computer prom

I need help with burning a chip for my 1992 L98 Camaro. I installed summit 1102 cam and now I can't get the base timing. Summit tells me I need to have my computer chip modifications for this to work. Summit doesn't have anyone. Can someone point me it the right direction. Thanks

Well here's the problem . I have a 1995 Chevy k1500 with the L98 engine I just installed. Summit sold me the camshaft but i can't get initial timing. Summit has no one to help. Believe it or not no body works on the obd1 computer more anymore. On my 92camaro I had a chip made about 5 years ago . The company doesn't do it anymore. There's a lot of c4 better , Camaros and Firebirds around. So tell me if you want to change the stock cam what do you do ???? I would think changing the cam would be popular. Yet no one yet has an answer. That includes Summit that sold me the cam. So that's why ..

You might want to change your post. You make it seem like you have a 92 f body and 730 ecm.
But im guessing you have a 95 k tbi ecm. Might have to advance base timing from lo5 specs to obtain idle.
have you reached out to tbi chips for your tbi tune ?

you are correct , I do however have a 1992 z28 camaro and had pcm for less do a chip that runs my zz4 camshaft run in my L98. I am basically doing the same thing here. Same engine with a different cam. If I can find someone who does custom chips then I'm good. Pcm for less doesn't work on them anymore .I have increased my base timing and the engine seems to run fine . I'm just not certain where the total advance is and don't want to cook the engine. I have been running premium gas hoping that may help detonation . Thanks

Datalog and see if you get knock counts. This is diy section not really for referrals of services.
lots of information or $8d if your running a 730 ecm.

Re: 1992 camaro z28 computer prom

If you have an L98 with a factory PROM in it, and you set your base timing to the factory 6 deg, then timing at any point is what the ECM is programmed to deliver. That's of course if you're not getting any knocking, in which case the ECM will retard the timing to protect the engine.

But If you set your base timing (EST disconnected) to anything over 6, then your total timing at any point is what the ECM is programmed for, plus whatever amount over 6 you put in (unless you re-calibrate the ECM to tell it what your put in).

Here's an L98 timing map. If you put, say, 10 deg base timing, then the ECM will add 10 - 6 = 4 deg to every cell in this map.
