Just built my 2 resistor one transistor cable now what?
Hey i am VERY new, so i built this cable, and i have winaldl, but i don't know which computer code in the program to use. I have an 88 firebird with the 5.0 tbi motor. I just need to know what ecm number to set winaldl to. I have the ver 1.09a of the software.
THanks fellas,

Looks like i'm doing too much posting, but i used that ecm for winaldl and tried to hook everything up to my laptop, but no luck it acted like nothing was plugged in. I was looking around and it seems like i should use the 1228063 ecm, is this true? I couldn't find it in the setting table for winaldl. Has anyone done this for an 88 bird before? with tbi?
thanks,
Mike

even with the wrong ecm selected you should still be seeing a green flashign box with 35 int eh middle of the top of the winaldl screen. my suggestion is to build the 160 single transistor interface and see what happens.i have used the single transistor interface with lots of sucess. and i mean no problems ever linking unless i had a bad ground at the aldl connector. and yes you do need a transistor most likely 3.9 ohm to communcicate with the ecm. something has to signal that the ecm need to communicate data the resistor is how it does it. try the 10 or the 3.9 ohm using a straight jumper will retrive codes but will put the ecm in field service mode rendering alot fo the collected data useless.

i did this cable http://www.tbichips.com/catalog/cable.htm
and i couldn't get anything, any ideas? I think that is the cable you suggested? Should i try the resistor WITH the cable? i am not sure what the problem is, i just plugged it all in and got nothing, what do you put on the aldl side of the cable? to insert it? i just tried to push the wires in, maybe that was the problem? anyway, thanks, i wonder if this is because i have the oddball 88?
thanks,
Mike

Try try again
Ok, i decided to try this again after finding my cable under my bed, i got it to work with the 10k jumper, however my pc showed no green 25 but a 1 or a 2 in a pink/red box. WHat does this mean? Any ideas? Is it the cable? the pc? a combo? is there anywhere i can purchase an already made and tested cable?
thanks,
Mike
