What would be a good starter bin?

Starting on Friday me and my buddy are going to start tuning up his car. Right now his setup is a 91 GTA currently running of a stock 305 5speed ecm, ZZ4 crate motor, TPI (ported plenum), 30lbinj., CC306 cam, headers, holley afpr, HI6, 160tstat, and a 6 speed. Basically I'm wondering what would be a good bin to start with? This is going to be our first time tuning and setting everything up, so it should be quite an experience to say the least.

I was thinking of starting with a base speed density L98 bin, but I'm not so sure how that will work seeing he has a T56. I'm going to be scanning with TTSPowersystems Datamaster, and tuning with tunercat.

You need to start with a manual bin. There are many differences between the auto and manual bins.

Would a manual L98 vette bin work, or is there another option that would work?

Use his existing one as a base.
With the changes you have, you're going to be tinkering with lots of things to get it right.

With a 160 operating temp., find a commented hac and make sure you have all the temp related stuff compensated for.

Would it be easier to tune with a 180stat instead?

You don't want to use a vette BIN because you'll get a trouble code due to not having an oil temp sensor.

I would recommend using an F-Body 305 manual BIN and then copying over as many table/constants as possible from the Y-Body L98 Manual BIN. Set the injector constant to 33lb/hr and the fuel pressure to around 45psi. If it were me that is what I would use as a starter BIN. Keep in mind that there will be a lot of tuning on top of that starter BIN. The VE tables are going to WAY OFF.

Couldnt I just uncheck the "Oil Temp Sensor Diagnostics (error 52)" in the ECM Switch Table?

Why would I set the injector constant to 33lb/hr and not 30lb/hr? Wont I need to change the cylinder volume as well?

First off we are going to get the thing to idle correctly. Right now she is running way rich due to the cam being so big. Next we'll start hitting the VE tables, and I'm planning on useing your (Traxion) guide from this board to get it done.

Theoretically - Yes. However, I haven't tried it yet. Just relaying what I know does work.

Depends if you are running 30lb SVO injectors. If they are SVO then use 33 because the SVOs are rated at lower pressures. If they are NOT SVOs then use 30. I assumed they were SVOs. Yes, you will need to change cylinder volume to match 350. Change all contants to the 350 constants (cept for stuff like injector size).
