730 to 727 swap a success!

I converted to the Corvette ECM today. The major benefits (for my vehicle) are:

- No more melting wire loom near the headers
- Moates' prom adapter fits inside the ECM with the stock cover!

Just wanted to share...if anyone else is interested in this swap and has questions let me know.

Hmmm, my boss has an ECM just like that under the hood of his 87 Dodge truck using it to control a 96 360 Mopar engine. And yes, the Moates adapter fits with the cover on tight, you just gotta shave the cork inside a little bit. I'm sure he'd find your conversion a trip! He got his out of a Lumina though and the wiring harness is a little different than a Vette. Other than the colors being different the only thing I can remember missing was the vats wire.

Yeah, I pulled that ECM from a Lumina. It pretty much had all the correct wire colors. I was able to remove all the emissions wires.

The only problem I ran into was with the fans. The Corvette has a fan relay, primary fan, and secondary fan wire. I connected my fan relay to the fan relay on the 727 ECM and the relay never turned the fans on. After I swapped the wire to the primary fan, the relay turned on my fans.

I'm happy because now I don't have to worry about any extreme heat near the wires.

Oh yeah, I had the shave the cork a bit to make it all fit. Good call.

Sorry to drag up such an old post, but What pin did you connect the Fan Relay too. I bought a harness, and my fan is not turning on. i cant find a schematic that shows which is fan relay and which is Primary.

I'm more interested in the over all pin swap to go from a '7730 to a '7727. There have been other semi-secussful swap of this, but there were always issues, and if there was more infomation, it could help open a couple other avenues.

Head over to www.cruzers.com/~ludis and look for the file named "quadplugecm.html." Shows the pinout between three ECMs.

I don't see it there.

I've been through most of that link too.

If you could directly link to it, that would help.

Thanks

*edit* Found it through a live search. http://www.cruzers.com/~ludis/quadplugecm.html

Cool that you found it. For someone new to the site it's like a treasure hunt. Except there is something under each palm tree.

Re: 730 to 727 swap a success!

i also found that A3 is the 2nd fan, not the 1st fan, thunderchevy.com shows A9 as the primary, which is not what the GM documents i found on line show.

thunderchevy has it correct
