Can you send me a untouched version of that bin. as the one i have has 00 in that location using a hex editor. maybe mine is off by someting because 6de seems to have the correct value.

Use a bin editor, not a hex editor

you can get unmolested bins for the 730 at:

ftp://ftp.diy-efi.org/pub/gmecm/bins/1227730/

no luck still get the same result. I must not have the right editor. I downloaded what seemed to be a bin editor and doesnt seem any different than a hex editor.

get winbin or gmecm

then get an ecu, there's another thread with ecu files I just posted that will work

then a fresh unmolested bin

So why would an unmolested bin compared to one i edit in gmecmedit be so different? For instane populate the hex code for an untouched bin and before it says 6dd is 00 and 6de is 9F(159). Then edit it with gmecm edit and it changes both 6dd and 6de to a new value. Why is it originally just 6de thats different and then they both change after the edit. Wouldnt we just want the one value changed rather than two different changes?

The cylinder volume in the AUJP is located at 6DD for 2 bytes, you got 00 and 9F. Know what 9F is in decimal?

Its 159, the cylinder volume of a 350cid V8

I dont see any problems?

Exactly now change it in gmecm edit to another value and see what its says. For instance change it for 383 which is calculated 175 (Af). The editor will change the two bytes to Af Af which is 44975. Im not doubting the location but seems the ecu must be incorrect. If you change it back you will still get 9f 9f which is 40863. Just be nice to get this working correctly. The only way I could get it to work is to edit the hex myself.

Shaggy, just change 6DE then manually like you did. Or correct the ecu. Unfortuantely you have already answered your own question.
