Will the 2 transistor cable work with Datamaster?

Just curious. I downloaded the trial of Datamaster and I have a cable that works with the Moates sofware. If not, what would I have to change on the Moates 2 tran cable to make it work with Datamaster?

I have used the 2 transistor interface with DM and didn't have any problems.

Awesome! I figured your car would be in the low 12's high 11's !!

However, I'm having a problem with the 2 tran cable and the software.

ECM852 will not connect at all. I know the cable works, it works on a buddie's MAF car. I hooked it up the same way on my car, but without the 10k resister and I selected 730 ecm, hit 1 to connect and it just sits there. Keep pressing 1 doesn't help.

So, I tried restarting the car, reseting the connection, restarting the software in every combination of order possible and still no luck!

So now I'm asking for help!

I thought SD cars need the max232 cable.

max232 will work on maf cars with 10k ohm resistor, it works on mine, ecm852.

1) Don't use it in windows; reboot to DOS.

2) be sure you have your connection set up for 8192 baud (which, in the case of many ECMs, requires the 10k). Craig's software does not (yet) support 160 baud streams.

I use the 2 trans on both 730's, and 749's without a hitch..

I have a 730 ECM. I thought the 10k resistor wasn't needed on a 730 Speed density ECM?

These problems are almost always COM port or OS related. Check your BIOS setup and make sure the COM port is enabled and make sure you disable any IR/DA stuff. If you are running anything later than Win98, you will have problems. Better to boot from DOS (a boot diskette) with the right BIOS settings at least to make sure it works there. Then you can start playing with some more bleeding-edge OS stuff...

My money's on the BIOS setup.

Did the cable and PC combo you're now using work on your friend's car? If so, then I lost the bet...

pins for cable

I have a cable I built for the Moates software over a year ago, and I've lost my documentation on what pins are used (89 TPI). I can't remember which pins on the ALDL I need to connect it to, and don't remember where the 10k went.

Took a look on the Moates site, and on AKM cables site, and on the Ruse site.... can't seem to find this info, someone have it handy?

thanks
